Bhutan continues its relationship as a "suzerainty" of India.

Seeking closer cooperation, India and Bhutan will tomorrow sign a revised Friendship Treaty giving more powers to Thimpu.

The Treaty will be one of the major highlights of the first-ever official visit to India of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk who arrived today to a warm welcome.

It will incorporate a clause indicating that Bhutan will not undertake or allow any activity on its soil that could be against the interests of India.
